Hepa A Booster Shot

Today, Dindin got her Hepatitis A Booster shot at P1,700. Her basic immunization requirements are now complete. Our pediatrician said that if we want, we can have the 13-strain pneumonia shot at P4,500 or the flu vaccine as additional immunizations. She suggested the pneumonococcal booster shot because we did not let Dindin have the 3-dose IPD vaccine. Not only was it expensive (3 shots = P10,500), we also want to limit the number of vaccines that go into her body.

The doc said that if there are no outbreaks, she would not recommend the vaccine for meningitis. So Dindin’s next vaccine would be the MMR Booster shot when she will be 5 years old. Yippee! Now we can concentrate our expenses on her milk and her other needs.

We weighed her today: she is now 12 kilograms and stands 34 inches. Thank God she is improving. :D By the way, her milk now is GainPlus because of the AHA and the ARA content. These are reportedly good nutrients for brain development. We had been using it for three days now and even her bowel movement is not difficult anymore. We had been giving her prune juice to ease her bowel movements, but even then, she could still get constipated. But for two days now, she had very little difficulty doing the natural thing.

She gets two bottles of GainPlus mixture each day. The rest of her consumption is a mixture of Alactagrow and Cerelac Rice. That is just because Alactagrow is much cheaper and Cerelac is packed with calories. hehe Thankfully, Dindin is responding well to her milk.

Cold Day

It is quite a cold and breezy day today. Mr. Sun didn’t shine. I thought it was going to be a rainy day because of the clouds hovering in the sky. But the rain didn’t come.

Because it is a Thursday, our pediatrician has her clinic today. And we are scheduled to have her Hepa A booster shot. And since it was just a cloudy and windy day, Dindin and I set out to the doctor’s clinic located at the Medical Plaza (across Ting-ting’s Restaurant) which is just a couple of blocks away from our house.

I had to carry Dindin all the way to the building because she might run if I let her on the road. And since we do not have decent sidewalks to walk on, it is just too dangerous that she might get side swiped by a passing vehicle.

When we got to the doctor’s office, I learned that her scheduled vaccine was not the Hepatitis A booster shot but rather the typhoid vaccine. It was just as well because I only had P1,500 with me and the Hepa A booster was P1,700.

So okay, typhoid it is. In two months, we will be having her Hepa A booster again. That will be in May.

Ahhh…when we went out it is still cloudy. But because I got tired of carrying her, we took the trisikad. It would be nice to miss lunch and just snuggle up under an electric blanket and go to sleep! I feel to tired and sleepy after that long walk!

Another Laughing Moment

We are not really sure what makes Dindin laugh like this, but when we do something that gets her going, we just continue it because her laugh is therapeutic to us.

This noisy ball was given to her by her pediatrician last Saturday when she had her Hexavac booster shot. It has been quite some time, I think four months to be exact, that we have seen her doctor, so the place must have felt new to her. She cried when the doctor put the thermometer in her ear. She cried with the stethoscope was placed on her chest. She cried when she was weighed and of course, you can just imagine her crying when she was already held tight for the shot.

So in the end, she as given a ball and two buttons. hehe Anyway, here is her laughing video.

Her next scheduled immunization is on April 2011 for her Hepatitis A booster shot. The typhoid will also follow supposedly in March, but we will have to see if we have the budget for it. So our priority is the Hepa A booster.

Hexavac Booster – P3,500
Hepa A Booster – P1,500
Typhoid Vaccine – P1,700
