Before we left for our vacation in Mindanao, we were already chewing on the idea of going to Hong Kong next year for Dindin’s fourth birthday. It may not fall on her exact birthday, but we can always present it as her present or her celebration. We might have to let go of having a party for her but this is going to be something better.
So today, I showed her pictures of Hong Kong Disneyland. I told her that it is a resort in a country called Hong Kong and it is where Mickey, Minnie, and the princesses lived. I pointed out Cinderella’s castle and so she looked for Cinderella.
I wanted to let her know that there is a place like that is a different country but that it is far and it will take a lot of money to go there. To emphasize the point, I gave her a couple of coin banks to fill. She said, “Oh, I’m so excited!” I am not sure if that comment was for the coin bank or for the trip, nevertheless, she really mentioned about her coin banks being so big. I told her that is because it will take a lot of money to go there. She understood and began asking for money. haha At least she got the idea.
We wanted Dindin to understand that these things are not just given for free by Mama and Papa. They need to be spent upon. So that means, one needs to earn and then save in order to get them. Well, she might not completely understand the concept, but we are getting there.
We hope to go in March when it is not so hot yet and no longer so cold. I was able to go to Hong Kong by end of March several years back and I liked the weather then. We just have to bring jackets though. But well, it may also depend on our savings. It could also be April.
We are thinking of staying there for maybe three nights and visit at least two parks–Ocean Park and HK Disneyland. Then maybe, we will just have a city tour. Whatever, depending on how long our coin bank will take us. haha As long as we are together and happy, and the princess is happy, that’s what matters.
