Winter in Front of The Fire

fireplaceThere is nothing quite like sitting in front of a toasty woodburning stove with a hot cup of cocoa in your hand when the temperatures are hitting subzero outside. It’s like being indoors when it’s pouring down with rain; it brings with it a strangely lasting home comfort.

You can have as many electric fires and radiators as you like, but you’ll never beat the soothing heat of a burning coal or log fire. Even your pets love the natural heat that a fire gives off.

Picture it: you’ve been out for a long walk with your dog, it’s freezing cold, raining and you’re getting battered by the rain, snow or, worse still, hailstone. The first thing you want to do when you get home is dry off with a towel and put the fire on to warm up. The next thing you’ll probably do is put the kettle on, but that’s only a complement to the comfort of a fire.

When something can bring so much comfort to your life at home, it’s important to make the right choice. There are so many different styles of fireplaces out there that it’s almost impossible to choose and it’s not just about how physically warm it keeps you; an aesthetically pleasing fire can bring yet more comfort to your life, so make sure that you have a shop around when you’re looking for a new fireplace!

I took my time to pick the right Victorian fireplace and it paid off – I’m reluctant to leave my front room in the winter now!

A Mother Has to Have Some Diversion

When I was a child, I often heard the oldies mention the term “diversion”, like if they want to have some form of entertainment.

I have realized what diversion meant when I became a mom. I think it was something to refer to anything that will take your mind off motherhood. Let’s face it, mothers, no matter how much we love our kids, there will come a point in our lives that we just want to have a few hours to ourselves. Otherwise, we become monsters who can scream our heads off while taking care of our little ones.

The usual things that I heard my aunts do before were to go ballroom dancing, play bowling, or play mahjong with friends and family. The problem with mahjong, however, is that they tend to go overboard and play for long hours without going home to their families. So I guess that we have to make sure that if we have a “diversion”, it will not mean neglecting our families.

Take for example, Mecca Bingo. It is a good online game that can provide you with a diversion without your having to leave the house. For some bucks, you can already be a member and play at your own time and pace. With just a click of the mouse, you can have a swell time playing in your own world.

Or you can check out
Diva Bingo
. It is quite a new site but it has a growing membership, most specifically among women because the site is catered especially for them. They have a great interface that is predominantly pink and has a lot of animated designs. And the best part is, they have great prizes, rewards schemes as well as big jackpots for the lucky winners.

The good thing is, you don’t have to leave home. You can decide to spend only 30 minutes online and then get back to working on your chores. You don’t have to think of getting dressed, travel time, or looking for a parking space. Just a word of caution though: do everything in moderation, moms! :D

Making a Funny Face

funny face

Making a funny face is a game that we always play. :D

This is Dindin’s version of a funny face. When you ask her to do a “funny face”, she will put her lips to the side and then wiggle her fingers. Yeah, notice the hand gestures, that is part of it. I think it is both cute and funny. Okay, I mean more cute. haha

Then we would laugh at her. So she now has a second funny face. She is kinda getting the fact that it is not silly but cute. So now, she tries to stick her tongue out. LOL

Anyway, making a funny face is a game that we always play. Sometimes, we turn off the lights and turn on the flashlight, so we make a “Flashlight Funny Face”. We got that concept from the show, Ni Hao Kai Lan.
